ORLANDO, Fla. – Whitworth women's tennis was swept by Union 9-0 in its first match of the week at the UTSA campus in Orlando.
The Pirates (6-6, 4-2 NWC) have lost their last two matches and been outscored 17-1. Gracie Smyley and Paige Oliver were defeated 8-2 in the top duo slot before Clara Todd and Jordan Turner-Esposito lost 8-5. Morgan McArthur and Olivia Corbett fell 8-6 in the third doubles match.
In singles, Union won each match in two sets until the finale where #6 McArthur took Alexis Kennedy to three sets before ultimately falling 6-4, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5).
Whitworth will look to get back on track and avoid falling below .500 tomorrow against Augustana. The match begins at 4 PM eastern time.
