Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Visiting Lewis-Clark State shut out Whitworth 7-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Scotford Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (4-6) were able to play outside for the first time this season, but could not overcome the Warriors (10-7).
LCSC won all three matches to get the doubles point. Libertad Sarmiento and Elizabeth Hopkins played the closest match for Whitworth, falling 8-6 at #3 doubles.
The Warriors were able to win all six singles matches, but two were highly competitive for the Bucs. Gracie Smyley lost 7-5, 6-4 at #1 singles to Heidi Moyo. Ines Steeman defeated Hopkins 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at #4 singles.
Whitworth will return to action next weekend with a Spring Break trip to Texas.
