PARKLAND, Wash. – Visiting Whitworth struggled to find its offensive football all match before losing 2-0 on Saturday at Pacific Lutheran in a Northwest Conference women's soccer contest.
The league-leading Lutes improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the NWC while the Pirates dropped to 3-2, 0-1.
PLU scored once in each half. Lily Dose scored in the 22nd minute from an assist by Alyssa Leong. Ashlee Gormley scored in the 69th minute on an assist from Keila Kruse.
The Lutes outshot the Pirates 19-3, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.
Kate Nelson made eight saves for Whitworth, while Eva Wirth only had to make one save in goal for PLU.
The Pirates will return to action on Sunday at Puget Sound.
