SPOKANE, Wash. – Jimmy Cerf, who already has six years of experience as a collegiate offensive coordinator, has been hired as the new offensive coordinator at Whitworth University for the 2025 season.
Cerf came to Whitworth from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, a member of the New England Small College Athletics Conference, where he was the offensive coordinator for three seasons. Prior to Bowdoin, Cerf was the OC at St. Lawrence University, a member of the NCAA Division III Liberty League in New York.
The Polar Bears’ best season under Cerf came in 2023 when Bowdoin ranked third in the NESCAC with an offensive average of 391.9 yards per game and second in the conference with 291.6 passing yards per contest. The Polar Bears scored 227 points (25.2 points per game), the team’s highest total since 2009.
At St. Lawrence, Cerf served as wide receivers coach in 2018 before he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019 and that year the Saints set school records for single-season passing yards (3,301) and completions (271).
Prior to St. Lawrence, Cerf coached tight ends, coordinated recruiting and served as co-special teams coordinator at the City College of San Francisco for two seasons (2016-17). A native of California, Cerf coached in the high school ranks from 2011 through 2015, including a season as the head coach at Sir Francis Drake High School in San Francisco.
Cerf and his wife Hannah have a son, James.
