Softball falls twice at Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – Visiting Whitworth fell twice to Trinity University in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers (5-1) edged the Bucs 2-1 in extra innings in game one before completing the sweep with an 8-0 five-inning game two win.

The Pirates (0-4) will close their Texas trip with a doubleheader on Tuesday at NAIA Texas A&M San Antonio.

Hannah Boudreaux's walk off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning ended an extra inning pitcher's duel.

After three scoreless innings, the Pirates broke through with a run in the fourth. Camryn Sage singled and Teeghan Reams executed a sacrifice bunt. Reagan Ellis followed with an RBI base hit to center field.

The Tigers answered and tied the game in the fifth with an RBI single.

With the game deadlocked at a run apiece, the Bucs had a chance for the go ahead run in the eighth inning. Kendel Sage singled and two sac bunts pushed runners into scoring position.
