LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Whitworth finished in fifth place among a strong scoring field at a championship event in Northwest Conference golf history on Sunday and Monday at the 2025 NWC Fall Classic, hosted by Lewis & Clark College at Oswego Lakes Country Club.

Seven schools shot a score below 300 on the tournament's first day.  And five of those teams finished with a score below 600.  The Pirates shot 295 on Sunday, followed by a 301 on Monday.  For most of Monday's round Whitworth was on pace to better its score from Sunday, but faded over the final six holes.  Willamette defended its title in this tournament by nine strokes over Whitman.

The final team scores were: Willamette 577 (+9), Whitman 586, Linfield 593, Pacific Lutheran 594, Whitworth 596, George Fox 602, Lewis & Clark 606, Pacific (Ore.) 621, Puget Sound 630.

Peyton Simonds led the Pirates by tying for 10th place in the final individual standings.  He shot 75-73 – 148 (+6).  Simonds moved up 12 spots in the standings from Sunday to Monday.  Whitman's Mason Remington was the medalist with a score of 71-69 – 140 (-2).

Matthew Durkin (75-74 – 149) and Andy Hobson (72-77 – 149) tied for 16th place.  Kallen Maioho (73-77 – 150) tied for 20th place and Max Hosfeld (75-77 – 152) tied for 26th.

The final 2025-26 NWC golf standings will be based on cumulative results from this weekend's Fall Classic and the 2026 NWC Spring Classic and 2026 NWC Tournament, which will both take place in April.

Whitworth will close out the 2025 fall schedule next Sunday and Monday at the Confluence Classic in Walla Walla.
