Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth women's tennis lost 6-3 to George Fox on Saturday morning at home after dropping the final four sets of the match.
The Pirates (9-7, 4-3 NWC) have wrapped up their Northwest Conference schedule for 2024, they'll host Lewis & Clark State and Bellevue College before the conference tournament. George Fox (11-4, 4-0 NWC) remains unbeaten in conference play, and they'll continue a full weekend of matches on Saturday night.
The Bruins took two of three from Whitworth in doubles, the only winning pair for the Pirates was #3 Jordan Turner-Esposito and Meredith Bedford who beat Ari Rader and Cassey Hitch 8-4. In singles, #1 Gracie Smyley took care of Kalli Wiker 6-3, 6-2 before #2 Oliver Paige earned a three-set win over Riley Bobkiewicz 6-4, 6-1, 7-5.
But the Bruins took care of business from there winning the #3, #4, #5, and #6 singles matches to pull away from Whitworth. #4 Clara Todd came close but fell to Elizabeth Cook in 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.
The Pirates will be at home to play Bellevue College on April 7 and Lewis & Clark State on April 13.
