REDLANDS, Calif. – Whitworth was held scoreless for the final 17 minutes as Redlands rallied for a 12-10 decision over the visiting Pirates in a non-conference lacrosse match on Friday night at Farquhar Field.
The Bulldogs (6-5) outscored Whitworth (7-2) 4-0 in the fourth quarter and put in the final five goals of the contest to come back from a 10-7 deficit with just over two minutes to play in the third period.
Emily Webster scored half of Redlands' goals, including the go-ahead goal with 4:18 to play. Cailin Walker scored the tying goal midway through the fourth and then added an insurance goal for the Bulldogs with 1:31 to play. Those were the only two tallies of the night for Walker.
Megan Whitman scored the first three goals of the match for the Pirates and ended up leading Whitworth with that hat trick. Rebecca Irwin added two goals and an assist, while Sierra Witte finished with a goal and two assists. Kenzie Hemman had one of each.
Whitworth won 16 of the 24 draw controls, but gave up 18 turnovers. Whitman won six draw controls, while Hemman had five. Whitman also led the Bucs with four ground balls. Sage Fosnock finished with a dozen saves.
Whitworth will return to Northwest Conference play on April 6th at Pacific (Ore.), followed by a match at Willamette on April 7th.
