Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Emmy Moore buried a penalty kick in the 9th minute for the game's loan goal and Whitworth earned a 1-0 road win over Pacific on Sunday.
It was Moore's third goal of the season (which ties her with Baylee Trejo and Kylee Russell for the team lead), and it came after Pacific's Taite Taniguchi was given a red card for a handball near the net. Taniguchi was attempting to defend a shot from Addison Dizard from point blank range but was called for the handball and ultimately ejected from the game.
Whitworth (6-6-4 overall, 6-5-1 NWC) moved within a point of Whitman for third place in the conference. Pacific (4-10-1 overall, 3-8-1 NWC) saw its two-game win streak snapped after playing most the game down a player.
The Pirates outshot the Boxers 13-7 (5-3 in shots on goal). Faith Rempfer made the start at keeper and combined for a shutout with the usual starter Kate Nelson, though they weren't challenged often combining for just three saves.
The Pirates are 16-1-1 in their last 18 matches against Pacific.
Whitworth will be back at home next weekend to take on Linfield and Willamette, Pacific will be on the road against Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound.
