SPOKANE, Wash. — The Whitworth women's soccer team beat the visiting Willamette University Bearcats 1-0 to grab their first win of the season and Cameron Bushey's first win as the Pirate's head coach on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates (1-2-1,1-0) and Bearcats (2-2-0, 0-1) battled through a scoreless first forty-five minutes.
Kalena Pfaeltzer scored her second goal of the season in the 64th minute to give the Pirates the 1-0 win. Savannah Acpal was credited with the assist.
The Pirates outshot the Bearcats 17-4 in total shots 12-1 in shots on goal.
Pirate goalkeeper Kate Nelson was credited with one save in 90 minutes. Rachel Compton had 11 for the Bearcats.
Whitworth will play next on Sunday against Lewis & Clark at 12:00 PM on the Whitworth Soccer Field.
