Box Score SPOKANE, Wash.— The Whitworth Pirates fell 4-2 against the visiting Whitman Blues in their final Northwest Conference men's soccer match of the season Saturday afternoon. 
The Pirates finish the 2022 season 8-9-3 overall and 5-7-2 in the NWC while the Blues close 12-7-1, 9-4-1. 
Whitman took the lead early in the fifth minute after 
Noa Taylor crossed to 
Christian Gomez who found the bottom left corner of the net. 
Rowan Calvert headed in a goal in the 20th minute to give the Blues a 2-0 lead at the half. 
Edwin Romero assisted.
The Pirates limited the Blues' scoring attempts until 
Derivan Dockter's pass connected with 
Sawyer Valero who broke away and scored in the 66th minute.
Whitworth's 
Eric Shaporda scored in the 82nd minute to put the Pirates on the board. 
Jamie Rodriguez was credited with the assist. 
In the 87th minute, 
Rodriguez connected with 
Beckett Arthur who scored his eighth goal of the season to put the Pirates within reach. 
A failed clearing led to a goal by Whitman's 
Eric Gantt in the 87th minute to put the Blues up 4-2.
Whitman outshot Whitworth 16-9 in total shots and 12-4 in shots on goal.
Whitman goalkeeper 
Bernie Jones had two saves in 90 minutes played. 
Aiden Chase had four saves and 
Andrew Wolotira had three for the Pirates.
