Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – Madison Perry, Carcie Chappell and Trinity Frank all scored a pair of goals, but Puget Sound scored seven consecutive goals in the opening half for a 12-7 win over visiting Whitworth in a Northwest Conference women's lacrosse match on Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers improved to 2-6 while the Pirates dropped to 0-7. The teams will play a second time on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Puget Sound took control early by scoring the first seven goals of the match. Emily LaRiviere had four of those scores. Whitworth got within 7-2 on goals by Frank and Perry. But the Loggers finished the half with two more to take a 9-2 lead at halftime.
Perry scored early in the second period to pull the Pirates to within 9-3. Frank scored her second to get the Bucs within 11-5. Trailing by seven, Whitworth scored the final two goals of the match, one by Abby Hahn and another by Chappell.
Frank finished with an assist for a total of five points.
LaRiviere led Puget Sound with seven goals. Bee Bridge added two.
Madison Gotthardt started in goal for the Pirates and made four saves against 16 shots. Olivia Almy stopped 10 of the 17 shots she faced for the Loggers.
