SPOKANE, Wash. – Gabriella Coprivnicar scored a pair of late goals to lead Whitworth to a 3-0 win over visiting Pacific (Ore.) in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon.
Savannah Acpal scored the first goal of the match for the Pirates (6-3-2 overall, 3-2-2 NWC). Her goal came in the 47th minute when Coprivnicar drove the right side of the box and crossed to Acpal, who was open on the left side of the goal. It was Acpal's first of the season.
The score remained 1-0 until the 86th minute when Coprivnicar scored unassisted with a long shot from the top of the penalty area. She added another, her fourth goal of the season, in the 89th minute.
Whitworth outshot the Boxers (3-6-1, 1-5-1) 12-6, including a 9-3 edge in shots on goal. The Pirates had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Kate Nelson only had to make a pair of saves to post her sixth shutout of the season. Catherine Corlett made six saves for Pacific.
Whitworth will host Linfield on Sunday to wrap up the first half of the NWC schedule.
