NEWBERG, Ore. – The Whitworth women's lacrosse team closed its inaugural season on Sunday, falling to 20-0 to George Fox.

The Bucs finished their first-ever season with a 1-13 overall record and 1-10 mark in the Northwest Conference. The Bruins sewed up their third consecutive NWC Championship.

Laura Wells led the Pirates with a season-high 13 saves. Madison Strickland, Grace Matteson, and Lois Ray scored four goals apiece for the Bruins.

George Fox jumped out to a strong start, scoring five goals in the first ten minutes, and didn't look back as the Bruins coasted to the win. Jennifer Burke keyed the attack with 10 draw controls, ensuring that George Fox held most of the game's possession.

Trinity Frank led Whitworth with three groundballs and took the Pirates' only shot on goal. She also grabbed two draw controls and caused a turnover. Shiloh Jan and Hannah Meador also grabbed two groundballs.
