McMinnville, Ore. – With a 1-0 loss at Linfield on Sunday in the final Northwest Conference matchup of the 2016, the Whitworth women's soccer team finished their season and posted their best record since 2012 (10-10, 9-7 NWC).

The Pirates put 6 of 10 total shots on target and McKenzie Hemp went 2-2 (Sh-SOG).  The Whitworth defense held the Wildcats to only two shots on goal and in single digits for total shots for the match (9).

In the sixth minute, McKenzie Hemp took a shot that was stopped by Linfield goalkeeper Sarah Bailey. The Pirates blocked a shot attempt from the Cats in the 42nd minute to keep the score tied at 0-0 heading in to halftime.

Whitworth's intensity formulated four shots in the first 10 minutes of the second period, three that required saves. The Wildcats did not get a shot off until the 67th minute when a header shot by Lexi Kerr was deflected out of bounds, setting Linfield up for a corner kick. Jamie Mars took the corner and found teammate Annie Ferguson for the lone goal of the contest.

Jenna Rogers returned to the field after being sidelined with a concussion and started in the net for the Pirates, recording one save. Sienna Tanner (10-5) played the second half in the net for Whitworth and had no saves. Sarah Bailey (8-9-2) posted a six save shutout for Linfield.
