FOREST GROVE, Ore. - An early goal by Pacific (4-1-1, 1-0-1) was not the start the Whitworth women's soccer team (0-3-1, 0-1-1) hoped for heading into their match Saturday afternoon. Whitworth scored in the 86th minute to force a 1-1 tie.

Shekema McCarthey of Pacific converted a header only six minutes into the game to give the Boxers the early lead.

Whitworth's tying goal did not come until Sarah Berentson (Sr., F, Burlington, Wash) converted a header of her own into Pacific's goal from the top of the box. Allie Smith (Sr., MF, Missoula, Mont.) was credited with the assist.

Whitworth outshot the Boxers 19 to 10 but was unable to turn most of those opportunities into goals. However Berentson's goal helped the Bucs avoided a loss in Oregon.

The Pirates face the George Fox Bruins tomorrow afternoon in Newberg, Ore.
